If there is one place, on 30A that feels designed for families that place is Seaside.
Seaside has cottages. Bicycles are everywhere. Kids run barefoot on the grass. The smell of grilled shrimp comes from Airstream food trucks. Seaside feels like summer no matter what month it is. Whether you are visiting for the time or returning to a vacation spot here are family‑friendly things to do in Seaside.
Start the Morning at the Seaside Amphitheater
The big open green space in the center of town is where most families start their day. Grab a coffee from Amavida. Let the kids run around the space. Enjoy the pace of the green space. If you are there, on a weekend you can catch a morning yoga class or a farmers market. The farmers market offers fruit, homemade breads and local treats. The kids can sample the treats as you walk.
Rent Bikes and Explore
Seaside offers biking. The wide sidewalks and the slow traffic make Seaside very good for kids. I can rent bikes, even trailers and little balance bikes. Ride through the famous white‑picket neighborhoods or ride the short trail to WaterColor. Pedaling under the Florida sun feels simple. I never feel a rush, in Seaside.
Lunch at the Airstream Row
The kids love Airstream Row. The adults love Airstream Row too. Airstream Row feels lively. Line up for the Meltdown, on 30A grilled cheese, the Barefoot BBQ or the Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs. The food is not fancy. The food is delicious. Find a shaded table. Watch people. Enjoy the Seaside vibe.
Hit the Beach (of course)
Seaside’s beaches are known for water, soft white sand and wide open space for kids to play. The water is usually calm. Calm water is good for children. The beach pavilions make entry points simple. Bring a bucket bring a boogie board bring a beach chair if the beachgoer wants. The beachgoer will likely stay longer, than the beachgoer planned.
Afternoon Treat: Modica Market or Dawson’s
After a hours in the sun the treat arrives. I enjoy the treat then. The Modica Market has sodas and baked goods. The Dawson’s Yogurt is a family favorite, for a cone. If you have ones the peak Seaside magic hour brings sticky fingers, sandy feet, happy faces. I love watching ones during the peak Seaside magic hour with sticky fingers, sandy feet, happy faces.
Browse the Shops
I love the shops in Seaside. The shops in Seaside are fun, for families and easy to walk. Go inside Sundog Books (parents: you will want to stay. Let the kids browse toy shops). Check out Seaside Style for 30A gear. The shops are close, shaded and easy to explore. Or the famous Duckies which is paradise for kids
Sunset at Bud & Alley’s
I love that with kids, Bud & Alley’s feels relaxed enough for a sunset stop. I can grab a table on the deck. Kids can sit on the beach with takeout pizza, from the Pizza Bar door. Watching the sky turn colors over the Gulf creates a memory that lasts long after the trip ends.
Evening Entertainment
Depending on the season the Seaside Amphitheater hosts movies, concerts or children’s events. I bring blankets and snacks. I let the kids relax on the grass. The grass feels cool. There is something, about the Seaside Amphitheater—simple wholesome fun under the stars.
Final Thoughts
I think Seaside feels like the beach town straight out of the storybook. Seaside is safe, walkable, relaxed and Seaside is full of things that the kids naturally love—ice cream, the lawns, the bikes and the beach. For families Seaside is the kind of place where the days unfold without effort, where the memories feel easy and lasting. I love Seaside.
